first floor plan

The future home for Welcome Table Christian Community consists of just the essentials for a small church alongside three affordable apartments.  The church and apartments were sustainably designed with a rainwater harvesting system, a robust thermal envelope (building skin), natural light, and a durable palette of materials to keep the operating costs to a minimum.  The project consists of two blocks, the apartments stacked one atop another in one, and the church sheltered under a bold simple roof in the other.  The church roof consists of a simple wood joist structure spanning between the north and south walls yielding a roof that drains efficiently while its underside reflects natural light deep into the sanctuary, creating a soaring iconic roof form.
